Marcelo spoke to Realmadrid.com: "This is a dream come true"

After passing his medical with flying colours, Marcelo made his way to the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium to sign the contract that will link him to Real Madrid through the remainder of the season and the following five years. His eyes expressed the excitement of his youth and his burning desire to triumph. “Signing for Madrid is a dream come true,” said the Brazilian left back, who also promised to work very hard to lead Real Madrid to titles. We introduce Real Madrid's newest incorporation.

Happy?
Very happy. I'm going to be playing for a great Real Madrid Club with 104 years of history. I am thrilled to be here. I hope I play here for many years to come.

Being 18 years old and signing for Real Madrid must be an incredible feeling.
Signing for Real Madrid and being only 18 years old is a dream come true. I played for another great team, Fluminense, but I have to thank Real Madrid for taking an interest in me and signing me at such a young age.

You had offers from other big Clubs in Europe. Why did you chose Real Madrid?
Other Clubs expressed their interest, but I wanted to play for Real Madrid. It's a team with 104 years of history and lots of titles, especially in the Champions League. The Club made a huge impression on me.

Does the fact that there are several Brazilians on the team help you?
Of course. Roberto Carlos, Robinho, and Ronaldo being here really makes this a lot easier. I can ask them anything and they will explain what I need to know.

They say you're just like Roberto Carlos on the pitch.
Not quite. We play the same position, but I have a lot of work to do to be the player he is. I really admire Roberto Carlos. I have watched him play since I was a kid and I am a huge fan of his. I hope I have a great career with Real Madrid and that we win a lot of titles.

What do you hope to contribute to Real Madrid?
I have come to help Real Madrid. I will help in every way I can, but mainly by playing. I will do everything I am capable of.

Is there any other player that has caught your attention, not including the Brazilians?
I have watched so many of them play on television, like Beckham, but they all impress me. Every Real Madrid player is a huge star.

There is a lot of pressure playing for Real Madrid and winning is a must. Are you ready for it?
Yes. I played for a great Fluminense team and recently made my debut with the Brazilian national team. There was a lot of pressure playing there as well, but I am ready to fight and to win. I can't stand losing.

By the way, you scored a spectacular goal in your Brazil debut.
I couldn't have dreamed of a better debut by scoring such a beautiful goal.

Playing for Real Madrid should give you more chances of playing for your national team.
I worked very hard at Fluminense to make the national team, and I plan on doing the same with Real Madrid.

European football isn't like Brazilian football.
They are different in several aspects. In Europe, for example, there is faster ball movement, while it's more delicate in Brazil.

Do you tend to attack a lot when playing or do you focus on staying back to defend?
I defend and move forward to attack.

Capello is a strict, disciplined coach. Does that worry you?
Not at all. Coaches always push hard during practise. Training is just as important as matches are. You have to train well if you want to play.

What most appeals to you now? Visiting Valdebebas, meeting your teammates...
Playing. What I really want to do is take the pitch and play.

If you could only win one title, which would you choose?
They are all important and winning any of them would be great. It's important that we fight for all three.
