Fabio Capello: "I like this spirit"

Coach Fabio Capello did it following the heartbreaking loss to Celta Vigo and he did it again on Sunday after the Whites routed Osasuna. More than his team's efforts, the Italian boss liked his players' attitudes on the pitch as they ran and fought for every ball. And although he doesn't like speaking about individual performances, he did mention Ruud Van Nistelrooy's impressive night, saying "Not many players possess his stiker's instinct."

“Being up 3-0 in the first half was great. We played formidably in every aspect on the break, in both speed and quality. Osasuna pressured a lot, especially along the left flank. We did have a few problems there, but the team was very focused.”

“We saw an entire team play tonight. Everyone ran, fought for the ball, helped one another out, and suffered when Osasuna attacked. I liked that spirit. I said I really liked our second half against Celta. I saw that same spirit then, and they had it again today.”

“It's true that we took our foot of the gas in the second half, but Van Nistelrooy proved how talented he is on the break. Not many players possess his stiker's instinct.”

“The fans helped a lot. They never stopped cheering. I really enjoyed the applause they gave Van Nistelrooy after his fourth goal.”

“Comfort and relaxation depend a lot on the opponent. We got a bit too comfortable after the third goal. We kicked too many balls into the last third and we didn't pass like we know how to, but that happens sometimes.”
