Capello after the match: "Ronaldo and Ruud Van Nistelrooy make a good partnership"
The Italian coach was satisfied with his team's play during the second half. Capello wanted to put the stress on the wonderful partnership between the two target men this evening, Ronaldo and Ruud Van Nistlerooy.
What was the difference between both halves?
In the first half, we walked, and in the second we ran. I thought the fans' whistles of dispproval were deserved. If my players had scored the chances they had, they would have gotten their act together sooner.
If you hadn't taken the lead so soon, everything would be different, right?
Probably, but I knew my players would wake up as soon as they started scoring goals.
Why did it take them so long to start playing?
When someone hasn't been playing for a while, he needs time to let it all sink in. But in the second half, we pressurised more intensely, we played the ball swiftly, we kept possession, and we ended up playing quite a good match.
Ronaldo scored, finally. Has his time come?
As I said before, he needs time and games to get back in shape. He and Van Nistelrooy can play together no problem. They make a good partnership, but we'll have to wait and see.
The press says that you have signed Marcelo.
I don't know.
What did you think of Ecija?
As I said in the press conference yesterday, I think they're a good team, well trained, well positioned inside the pitch and with fast players.
