Capello: "The important thing was going through"
The manager of Real Madrid, Fabio Capello, spoke to Canal + at the end of the match, giving his impressions of his team's victory against Steaua Bucharest.
We're happy to have qualified for the next stage. We suffered until the very end because Steaua have pressurised intensely, and they really hurt us, especially in the first half. In the second half, we should have killed off the match. We had up to 4 very clear chances. In the important moments, we need to have control of the ball and keep passing it.
They came to play with three attacking players. But the most important thing was going through. Now, we need to wait for Olympique Lyonnais at home to fight out the group's first position.
I barely had time to see the goal because I was looking back on our defense.
Robinho is very dangerous when he faces the opponents.
Ronaldo hurt his neck yesterday when he headed a cross by Mejia. This morning, he was with the physios and it wasn't until this afternoon that I was told that he was in good condition to play. The decision to leave him out of the starting eleven was mine, but it is true that I did not know he could feature until 6 pm.
