Capello to Onda Madrid: "We are a good, fighting and quality team"

Fabio Capello was a guest on programme "El Partido de la Una" on Spanish radio station Onda Madrid. The Italian coach said his team play a "very particular style of football" and that they need to have continuity. He said people don't respect Real Madrid as much as they did ten years ago. "Someone even threw a pool ball on the pitch in the match against Sevilla," he said. "I told Sergio Ramos I had never seen anything like it."

THE CAPELLO TOUCH
"It's a trend nowadays to be a Capello detractor, but in order to win one must have a proper team with a particular style of playing football. I told my players this morning that we are a very good team capable of winning games and the League, but that we didn't have continuity. We sometimes have spectacular moments, but we should have them much more often."

"We must think positively because we have played some excellent matches. It's important to analyse how we and our adversaries performed after the match. We are achieving more and more things each day. We are a good, fighting and quality team."

"We now finally feel proud of playing for this Club."

WINTER TRANSFER WINDOW
"Real Madrid may make new signings in order to improve the squad. Time is our best ally because with it we'll improve. The players we may sign are good, young and have a great future ahead of them. There are no longer any real superstar players out there, and if there are, their clubs don't want to let them go."

COMPARISONS WITH BARÇA
"Each team has its own style, which is determined by the players on the squad. Real Madrid and Barcelona have different styles. If we play as defensively as Barcelona did against Werder Bremen the Bernabéu crowd would fiercely whistle and boo at us."

"I don't think Barça have played spectacularly well in their last few games."

RAUL
"I ask him to be our leader. He is the captain and he is very important for us. Captains do more than exchange pennents at the start of each game. They are very important people within the group."

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE DRAW
"Chelsea are the most complete and solid team. Manchester United have a lot of quality and speed. Arsenal play good football even without Henry."

SPANISH CROWDS
"People don't have the same respect for Real Madrid they had ten years ago. Someone even threw a pool ball on the pitch in Seville. I told Sergio Ramos I had never seen anything like it. I remembered Spanish crowds differently. I remember them as great football fans who went to football games in order to have a good time, but their attitude nowadays isn't appropriate for children to watch or be around. Kids learn how to behave from grown-ups and right now they aren't setting a very good example."
