Calderón to Realmadrid.com: "Team spirit is great; something we haven't seen in several years"
Before sitting down for lunch with the Directors of Dynamo Kyiv, the President of Real Madrid spoke to Realmadrid.com and RealmadridTV about tonight's Champions League match, the team, and several players, namely Ronaldo and David Beckham.
Youth teamers
There are nine very excited youth team players here. There's always a lot at stake wherever Madrid play. There are lots of Spaniards in Kyiv so we always have to put our best foot forward.
Good match in Kyiv
I've heard Beckham and Ronaldo are playing, so there will be good players on the pitch. Players always want to win, no matter the matchup. I think it will be a good, competitive match.
Thrilled with Ronaldo
Ronaldo had an extraordinary attitude the other day, and I love seeing that. On the plane I told him we would win the European Cup if he continues playing like he did. He's a unique player that can always win a game for you when healthy. He's still the best striker in the world.
And Beckham
Beckham is an exceptional player on and off the pitch. I would like him to sign on for the rest of his career. He has never complained about being benched and his charm and caring always shine through.
Team spirit
There is great team unity, which some out there want to interfere with. It had been a long time since I had seen Casillas run 60 metres to hug a teammate. Team spirit is great.
Dinamo Kyiv cordiality
Dynamo Kyiv's Board of Directors is great. We first met in Madrid and they have invited us to a beautiful place.
