Mijatovic Bags Gago

Mijatovic and Gago’s agent, Marcelo Lombilla

Mijatovic Bags Gago It seems that Boca Juniors’ star midfielder Fernando Gago will finally end up in white at the Bernabéu after Real Madrid sporting director Petja Mijatovic and the player’s agent, Marcelo Lombilla, dined at the plush 'Soko' restaurant and put the finishing touches to a contract that will keep the player at the White House until 2012.

The only potential deal breaker is the traditional haggling: Real Madrid are willing to offer 15 million Euros and Boca President Mauricio Macri is asking for 20,000,000 to let his young revelation jump the pond and play in La Liga.

Spanish sports daily ‘As’ snapped the execs leaving the restaurant at close to 5pm after a lengthy business lunch sealed the deal.

Lombilla was crystal clear about the youngster’s final destination. "Gago has been offered three different contracts by Chelsea, AC Milan and Barcelona, but the kid has told Macri that he’s only leaving Buenos Aires to play in [Real] Madrid".

Gago is on the verge of being proclaimed champion of the Argentinean Torneo Apertura with Boca Juniors.

Mourinho may have asked Abramovich to sign the young gun, Galliani may be trying to get an insurance policy against a potential poaching of Kaká this summer and Macri might have chatted with Laporta at Camp Nou this weekend, but Gago has a dream.

He wants to be the ‘new’ Fernando Redondo – in the same white jersey that his Albiceleste idol wore.
