Squad list: Ronaldo not called up, but Helguera makes it in last-minute; Beckham and Guti injured
Twenty Real Madrid players will travel to Valencia this evening. Youth team players Rubén De la Red, Nieto and goalkeeper Kiko Casilla have made the squad list. Iván Helguera has also been called up and could even play despite having trained on his own all week due to his specific injury-recovering plan. Guti -suspended as well as injured-, Beckham and Ronaldo haven't made it, despite the latter being practically recovered.
Twenty Real Madrid footballers travel to Valencia, although two will be discarded tomorrow. Castilla's Rubén De la Red –who could be an optimum replacement for Guti- Real Madrid C's Miguel Ángel Nieto and Castilla keeper Kiko Casilla have been called up for the match. Iván Helguera, who has a swollen right quadriceps, also made the list in the last minute and will be closely monitored to see if he is match-fit and able to feature tomorrow.
Players who will not be making the 350-kilometer trip include: Guti, who is both suspended and injured, with a mild fibrilar tear on the groin; David Beckham, who still hasn't recovered from his swollen left meniscus disc; and Ronaldo, despite having trained extra hard with the squad since Wednesday and being practically recovered from his grade I sprain of the internal lateral ligament of his left knee. Capello didn't want to take any risks with him.
Emerson, Cassano and Cannavaro have recovered from the niggles they had during Tuesday's Champions League match and will travel to Mestalla.
