Mijatovic: "We Lost Because We Didn’t Exist"
Real Madrid striker-turned-exec Pedja Mijatovic was crystal clear in his disappointment after the Merengues were beaten by Villarreal. The result leaves Real Madrid without the prize they were aiming for in the wake of the Ronaldo transfer: a temporary view from the top of La Liga.
"There’s really very little to say, especially about the second half. We lost because we didn’t shoot and basically didn’t exist on the field", he explained to ‘La Sexta’. “We knew that it would be a difficult game as Villarreal are strong at home, but we ceased to exist and that can’t happen.”
Mijatovic went on to detail his grievances. According to Calderón’s right-hand man Madrid played… "well in the first half when he created some chances but after the break we let Villarreal have far too much ball possession. Now we have to think carefully and try and find some solutions to the problems we saw."
He also commented acidly on Ronaldo, echoing fans remembering the Milan-bound striker with banners carrying messages such as ‘Ronaldo, el Madrid sin tí ha perdido peso’ (Ronaldo, without you Madrid has lost weight’. “Ronaldo lost too”, he concluded.
