Zaragoza squad list:Three youth players in a depleted squad list owing to suspensions and injuries
Fabio Capello called up eighteen players for the Day 18 League game and will therefore not be forced to discard anyone. Time to tackle Zaragoza with the absences of previously known injured players Marcelo, Roberto Carlos and Guti, plus the two new niggles of Ronaldo -calf strain- and of Cassano -lower back pain-, who were therefore dropped from the list. Suspended first-teamers Sergio Ramos and Michel Salgado, and David Beckham, out for technical reasons, will not feature either. Thus, coach Capello decided to call up three youth players from Real Madrid Castilla -Miguel Ángel Nieto, Rubén De la Red and Miguel Torres. Nevertheless, it will prove an important match for newcomers Gago and Higuaín, who will be making their debut in front of their home crowd.
Eighteeen players make up the squad list for the League clash against medirse Víctor Fernández's Zaragoza. The only change with respect to the King's Cup call-up is the return of defenders Paco Pavón and Álvaro Mejía. There were three ceratin absentees in view of their injuries, Marcelo, Roberto Carlos y Guti, but this morning saw Ronaldo and Cassano join them with niggles. The Brazilian striker has a right calf soleus muscle strain which prevented him from training with the rest of the group. Meanwhile, the Italian forward has a lumbalgia or lower back syndrome. But that is not it. Also unable to play tomorrow are Ramos and Salgado, who will not feature at the Bernabéu as they are suspended after completing their 5-booking cycle. Finally, David Beckham has been left out for technical reasons.
In view of these numbers, three Real Madrid Castilla footballers made the squad list. These included right fullback Miguel Torres, winger Miguel Ángel Nieto, and organising midfielder Rubén De la Red. It is more than probable that the former will start on Sunday in view of the good performance he put in against Betis and of Real Madrid's defensive-line privation. The three players have the full trust of Capello, who has repeatedly requested their services throughout the season. This way, the injury and suspension chapter could mean a new opportunity for these youth system pearls.
Two other young footballers who have made the squad list anew are the two last Argentinian signings. Fernando Gago and Gonzalo Higuaín could very possibly make their home debut on Sunday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
