Fabio Capello: "They counterattacked very well after scoring their first goal"
Fabio Capello was serious and disappointed during the post-match press conference, although he pointed out that there are still many League matches left. He is aware that the team must impove for the King's Cup match against Betis on Thursday.
"We gave the first goal away. Guti is always our fourth man on the barrier and the ball went through his vacant hole. Casillas could do nothing to stop it. Gago plays for Argentina and has a strong personality. I liked his performance very much. I replaced him because he was tired. I left Robinho out because I can't bring 22 players with me to the game."
"I don't regret not lining ip Marcelo from the very start. I can't simply line up two newcomers as starters for such an important match. Marcelo is only 18 years old and has to play more games. I know this from experience. Ramos did a good job as left back. The whole team suffered throughout."
"Once they scored they grew more confident. I'm the one who's responsible for everything that goes on, both if we win and if we lose. We play eight matches this month. We'll see how we come out of that at when the last match is over. Cannavaro is playing badly recently. He never wins a ball against an opponent."
"Beckham stabilises the team, that's why I brought him out. I make every player warm up because I always configure the best possible line-up to try to win. Whenever we lose the press always slaughters me."
