Calderón Promises Three Winter Warmers
Real Madrid President Ramón Calderón has assured fans that the squad will be bulked up in January by the arrival of three “very good” footballers. The President made the revelation whilst attending a chat with law students at the Universidad de Navarra, and also confirmed that Roberto Carlos will be staying and Hierro will be returning.
“We’ll be bringing three very good footballers to Madrid in January…three young players who are seen as the top emerging talents in the world right now”, the exec explained. “This will help to give a boost to the existing squad and reenergise the team on the pitch as well”, he added , not revealing the three names.

Pundits point towards a trio with roots in South America. Boca Junior’s midfield organiser Gago and River Plate’s Franco-Argentine striker Gonzalo ‘Pipita’ Higuaín would form an Albiceleste duo.
The already confirmed arrival of Fluminense’s galloping left-back Marcelo – signed for between six and seven million Euros – is the third reinforcement.
Asked as to the position of Roberto Carlos, Calderón confirmed that the Brazilian back would be staying put at Real Madrid "for at least another year, and a potential year after that if he meets certain targets considering the amount of matches and minutes played". Ex-Captain Fernando Hierro will also return to Real Madrid as a coach for the central defense "something that will really pay off", concluded Calderón.
