Cannavaro Compares Ronaldo To Maradona

For the Italian defender, the Brazilian striker is an impressive player and among the best attackers in the world.

Fabio Cannavaro spoke about Ronaldo following his departure from Real Madrid to Milan, in a decision which the Italian world cup winning defender did not fully agree with.

"In my opinion he remains one of the best players," said Cannavaro to Sky. "Playing against him, always gave me the impression that he had something more than the others.

"Just like Maradona.

"He is still right now one of the best attackers in the world."

Ronaldo signed a one and a half year deal with the Rossoneri following long negotiations between the Italian and Spanish club, in a move which the Rossoneri hope will be fundamental to the remainder of their season, with the squad currently in ninth place in Serie A, and with work to do before securing fourth spot and a Champions League berth.

While comparing anybody with Maradona or Pele seems unfair, one has to admit that if some have come close, it is from among the likes of former 'Galacticos' Zidane and Ronaldo. El Fenomeno is the World Cup's top scorer, a threetime winner of the Fifa World Player of the Year award, and a three time winner of the Golden Ball.

Yet, he is only 29.

Minus a few 'kilos' and inches, he could well have another 3-4 four years of fabulous football ahead of him! And who knows, even another World Cup!
