Madrid Directors Hand Capello A Lifeline
After deliberating on the issue during their meeting today, the Real Madrid board of directors decided to back coach Fabio Capello as the one who could get them out of the present crisis.
The Real Madrid board of directors met at 5pm CET at the Bernabeu, with the team's plight and Capello's future the obvious subjects of the discussion.
It was one of those meetings which Don Fabio was not invited to, and for obvious reasons.
However, after discussing the issue at length, it was decided that the club persist with the Italian.
Club spokesperson Miguel Angel Arroyo told the press as much after the meeting and also went on to explain why.
"He [Capello] is the unique one who can renovate this Real Madrid into the one we want," he declared.
Sporting director Pedja Mijatovic was at hand to answer questions later, and once again requested for patience.
"We needed more time, more patience," he pleaded. "To change such a great club is not an easy task, but it is only a question of time. We need the support of the Madridistas
"We have to be completely united in such a situation. Everything becomes easy if people trust us."
