Fabio Capello sees his team's performance getting better and ensures it will continue doing so

One day after the derby against Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid boss, Fabio Capello spoke to El Larguero of Spanish radio station Cadena Ser to analyse the match. Although he didn't like how his team played during several stages of the game, he believes his men could have taken the three points from their cross-town rival. Additionally, the Italian coach wanted to settle the controversy involving Fernando Torres.

TEAM PERFORMANCE
“I am more or less pleased with how the team is playing. I didn't like our performance against Lyon, but I think we're right where we should be at the moment. We're improving on a weekly basis.”

“We're doing well in League play. We had problems in defence for the first 30 minutes against Atletico Madrid because they pressured a lot in the midfield. We didn't play the way I like to: controlling the ball and passing to open spaces. There were things I liked, and things I didn't like. I knew Atletico were fast in the counterattack. We were able to score the equaliser and we had the chance to go up 2-1. The team was playing well in the second half until Sergio Ramos was sent off. We had three great chances to score our second goal.”

RAMOS-TORRES
“It is obvious that Torres faked it and that Sergio didn't touch him hard enough to hurt him. Ever since I was in Italy, I have fought against players falling to avoid counterattacks. They hit the turf and the game has to stop. Sergio barely touched his face and he fell to the ground. You have to be more sportsmanlike.”

"I don't know the true meaning of the word 'cheater'. I don't like to offend anybody, so I am sorry if I did. I asked what you call someone who wants his team to take the advantage by doing such things, and they told me the word was 'cheater'. I was referring to someone who just falls to unfairly take advantage. I don't know what the word is, but that's what I meant.”

STARTERS AND RESERVES
“I have been lucky to have had so few injured players. Just my right fullbacks Cicinho and Salgado, and Ronaldo, who has been out for a while. Not everyone can play when the whole squad is healthy. We have to balance it out. With national teams playing this weekend and next week, we will have the opportunity to play everyone. I consider everyone a starter. There are no reserves. We need everyone to be a starter. At the end of the season we will add up all the minuntes each player played.”

RONALDO
“He's working hard. It's very important that his knee isn't bothering him. He won't be in perfect shape for the next couple of matches, but he's almost there.”

EMERSON
“After the Raúl debate, now it's Emerson's turn. We're going to win this bet.”

10 YEARS LATER
“Football is different. We all change. Life, the sport...everything evolves. Football would be old if it hadn't changed over the last 10 years. Marketing didn't exist 10 years ago, and now every team uses it to earn money to build better teams. I was, and still am, used to all the criticism.”
