Ronaldo Returns
With Míchel Salgado still recovering from his injury and the last-minute absence of Pavón due to a bruise on his left knee, the main novelties in the squad call-up for Sunday's derby against Atletico Madrid are Ronaldo and Helguera. This is the first time this year that both players have been called up for a League match.
Eighteen players will gather for pre-match preparation this evening at 8:30 pm CET in the Hotel Mirasierra Suites. The coaching staff already knew that they would not be able to play Salgado, who is still recovering from his knee injury, but there was a last-minute setback, with Pavón out due to a niggle. The centre back did not train today due to a bruised left knee and has not been called up. His spot will be covered by Helguera, who has made the short list for the first time this season.
Meanwhile, Brazilian star Ronaldo made the teamsheet for the second consecutive time after being called up against Dynamo Kyiv on short notice due to Van Nistelrooy's fatherhood on exactly the same day of the match. This time, Real Madrid's number '9' has made the list after playing the last ten minutes of the Tuesday Champions League clash because Capello wants him to slowly start recovering his playing form and build the necessary pace for the different competitions. He will probably feature a few minutes during the Sunday Primera Liga game as he did four dys back.
TEAMSHEET:
Keepers: Casillas and Diego López.
Defenders: Roberto Carlos, Raúl Bravo, Sergio Ramos, Cannavaro, Helguera and Mejía.
Midfielders: Beckham, Diarra, Emerson, Reyes, Guti, Robinho and Cassano.
Forwards: Ronaldo, Raúl and Van Nistelrooy.
