Calderón Confirms Ribéry Rumour & Centre-Back Search
Real Madrid President Ramón Calderón has confirmed that the White House is still actively looking for reinforcements after this winter’s South American trio of Marcelo, Higuaín and Gago was presented at the tail end of 2006.
Calderón spoke of Mijatovic having the Olympique Marseille man in his crosshairs, but also of bulking up the rearguard as well. “I’ve heard Pedja [Mijatovic] talk well of the Frenchman [Ribéry] but now he’s thinking more of other players like Alex [PSV], Chivu [Roma]...”.
Capello has accepted the new arrivals in suitable festive style but the Coach apparently feels exasperated that he still has a threadbare selection of players he trusts in the back four. Many had tipped Madrid to make such a defensive move but as of yet – nothing.
The President went on to congratulate his execs and promise further arrivals in the future. “Mijatovic and Capello are looking at both the present and the future with an eye to creating the ideal squad. Pedja Mijatovic and Franco Baldini are doing a sensational job.”
